ABOUT OUR EVENTS - Thesecondopinion has three major fundraisers annually. Our Annual Breakfast Speaker Event in April/May, Our annual Golf Fundraiser in September/October and our Annual Donor Campaign from November through December. All of these fundraisers are critical to the organizations financial sustainability. In total the events bring together over 1,000 people, including cancer patients, medical professionals, corporate and foundation partners.
ANNUAL BREAKFAST SPEAKER EVENT - Is an inspiring community gathering that brings together 150-200 people, including local community members, corporate and foundation partners, medical professionals, and cancer survivors. It is our largest fundraiser and contributions from this event make up a quarter of our revenues.

ENHANCING HOPE, HEALING & HEALTH
Dr. Taryn Marie Stejskal (pronounced Stay-skull) is the Founder and Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) of Resilience Leadership Institute (RLI); she is recognized as the #1 international expert on resilience, mental health, and well-being in both leadership and life. Her mission is to positively impact the lives of 1 billion people by enhancing hope, healing, and health, increasing consciousness, and enhancing leadership through resilience.
Dr. Taryn Marie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, along with master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park, and completed pre- and postdoctoral fellowships in neuropsychology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.
She is the author of the #1 WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER "The 5 Practices of Highly Resilient People: Why Some Flourish and Others Fold" and the host of the top 1% acclaimed podcast Flourish or Fold: Stories of Resilience, where well-known people tell their lesser well-known story of facing challenge to remind us that adversity is a necessary ingredient in life.
TEE OFF FOR THESECONDOPINION - Survivors and Thrivers Golf Tournament - Our 7th Annual Golf Fundraiser brings together 75-100 golfers at one of the Bay Area's beautiful golf courses. It includes a post-golf reception and auction. It offers an opportunity for golfers to meet new people, network and see old friends. Our goal is to connect, laugh and have have fun while raising critical funds for cancer patients. Sponsors for this event receive signage at the hole of their choice and the opportunity to provide a sample product or advertisement in the golf swag bag and much more.
ANNUAL DONOR CAMPAIGN - is thesecondopinion's year end donor appeal. Sponsors for this event are usually people, corporations or foundations providing matching funds. If donors know that their donation will be matched they are more likely to give. We mail out over 1,000 solicitations cards and you can be listed on that card if you provide matching funds! We also participate in 'GivingTuesday' and solicit through social media during the months of November and December.
